Our Groups
At Phoenix Flyers, we've had to adapt our training so that we're training in smaller groups to follow the Covid guidance that has been set by England Athletics. We're now training in groups which have a maximum of 12 athletes (some groups are smaller) and we're training in different areas to keep groups safe by being apart. All our training is following social distancing guidance.
Each week, we need to ask parents to fill in our Google form which is posted on the club Facebook page and can be emailed out by request and they then apply for training sessions for their child. This is so that we can manage the numbers of athletes and offer the best groups to match the coach availability that we have.
Here's an explanation of the groups........................
Under 11's
This group is for athletes from ages 8 to 10 years of old and we aim to develop their general skills on running, jumping and throwing.
Under 13's
This group is for our development athletes in school years 6 or 7 where we start to build on their general skills on running, jumping and throwing into specific events that they can compete in.
Sprints
This group is for athletes in school year 8 and above who want to train for sprint events (up to 400m).
Middle Distance
This group is for athletes in school year 8 and above who want to train for middle distance running (800m & above).
Jumps
This group is for athletes in school year 8 and above who want to train for either long or triple jump.
Throws
This group is for athletes in school year 8 and above who want to throw and we offer coaching in shot put, javelin and discus at the moment.
