Frank Stephenson
Athletics Coach
Athletics Coach since October 2014 & Coaching Assistant from September 2013
I am most interested in middle distance running, however, coach run, jump and throw events and I enjoy the variety of disciplines of coaching a mixed ability group of athletes and ages from 8 to 80 years old. I have always been involved in sport and have participated in rugby, swimming, rowing and karate competitions in the past. Today, other than athletics, I participate recreationally in climbing/indoor bouldering and pilates.
For the future, I would love to see Phoenix Flyers AC continue to develop as a great family friendly athletics success, with a great spirit and strong sense of fun. For myself, I like to keep my skills fresh by attending courses from time to time and benchmarking and perhaps undertaking an event specialist advanced coach qualification in middle distance running. Importantly, I want to see other coaches and coaching assistants develop to support our growing club.
Seeing athletes gain in fitness, develop and grow in confidence for life has been incredibly rewarding, whilst seeing both children and adults from our group compete and win a plethora of medals (many of them Gold) in numerous competitions, both at local and regional level with a number representing their county, has demonstrated our ability to help athletes perform to a high standard and achieve some memorable victories.
