Volunteering

We're always looking for volunteers to help out at Phoenix Flyers as there's lots of skills that we need to keep the club growing and developing. The main area where we need support is in coaching, as this maximises the opportunities for all athletes to train and compete. Further details about our volunteering opportunities are included below the poster.

Volunteering Options

Coaching

We've got a great coaching team and the club has always prided itself on helping our coaches to develop their learning.  From encouraging new Coaching Assistants and encouraging them to become Athletics Coaches, we've worked hard to grow the team and we've been successful in finding funding to pay for courses for our volunteers. There are lots of roles that can help with the coaching of our young athletes and visit the England Athletics website

Club Committee

The club has a management committee that have 10 meetings per year to talk through how the running of the club.  Our main roles include a Chair, Club Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Welfare Officers to name a few. If you think that you've got a skill that could help, just speak to Lesley, Steve or Gillian at training.

Athletics Official

As part of our responsibilities as a club competing in the North East Youth Development League, we need to provide qualified Athletics Officials. The roles we need include Field Officials, Track Officials and Timekeepers, but there's also a need for Photo-finish technicians, Starters and Marksmen roles in Athletics. The club has funding for two Athletics Officials and if you'd like to volunteer please speak to Mark as he's a Level 3 Field Official and a Level 1 Track Official and is happy to mentor anyone who'd like to help. Visit the England Athletics website for more information.
