CODES OF CONDUCT

OUR CORE PRINCIPLES

Welcome to Phoenix Flyers. In addition to our role-based Codes of Conduct that are available below, we have a core set of principles that we want all members to follow:

1. Safety First

  • Protection: Every member has the right to be safe and protected.

  • Communication: Report any ill health, injuries, or risky situations (such as track flooding or equipment damage) immediately to a club official.

  • Environment: We maintain a drug- and alcohol-free environment during all training and competitions.

2. Mutual Respect

  • Support: Be friendly and supportive to all athletes, across all age groups and disciplines.

  • Equality: Every individual must be treated fairly and with respect.

  • Conduct: Bullying, belittling, or pressured behavior—whether in person or online—is strictly prohibited.

3. Integrity in Sport

  • Fair Play: We compete fairly and respect the rules of the club and the decisions of officials.

  • Professionalism: Coaches must hold the right qualifications, and athletes must listen to and follow all technical instructions.

4. Accountability

  • Reliability: Keep to agreed timings for all club activities.

  • Consequences: Failure to uphold these principles may result in verbal or written warnings, suspension, or removal from the club.

Volunteering Options

Coaching

We've got a great coaching team and the club has always prided itself on helping our coaches to develop their learning.  From encouraging new Coaching Assistants and encouraging them to become Athletics Coaches, we've worked hard to grow the team and we've been successful in finding funding to pay for courses for our volunteers. There are lots of roles that can help with the coaching of our young athletes and visit the England Athletics website

Club Committee

The club has a management committee that have 10 meetings per year to talk through how the running of the club.  Our main roles include a Chair, Club Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Welfare Officers to name a few. If you think that you've got a skill that could help, just speak to Lesley, Steve or Gillian at training.

Athletics Official

As part of our responsibilities as a club competing in the North East Youth Development League, we need to provide qualified Athletics Officials. The roles we need include Field Officials, Track Officials and Timekeepers, but there's also a need for Photo-finish technicians, Starters and Marksmen roles in Athletics. The club has funding for two Athletics Officials and if you'd like to volunteer please speak to Mark as he's a Level 3 Field Official and a Level 1 Track Official and is happy to mentor anyone who'd like to help. Visit the England Athletics website for more information.
